Social Fundraising

Graduate Diploma and Master’s in International Health students may involve their friends and family in their service-learning experience. Individuals may make tax-deductible donations to INMED to cover eligible costs related to specific student’s service-learning experience.

How it works:

  • Individuals donate to INMED using INMED’s online giving platform
  • Students complete service-learning experience and all program requirements
  • Students submit INMED’s Service-Learning Expense Reimbursement form
  • INMED reviews the form; if approved, funds will be issued to the student within 30 days

Important Notes:

  • If the amount of funds donated exceeds eligible reimbursable expenses, the remaining funds will remain with INMED and will not be dispersed to the student
  • Due to credit-card processing fees, INMED charges a 3% administrative fee for this service

  • Description: Six weeks to one year in a sponsored program that will serve the needs of the medically underserved.

Benjamin H. Kean Travelling Fellowship in Tropical Medicine

  • Sponsor: American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene
  • Description: A national fellowship program that will provide airfare and (up to $1000) towards living expenses. Kean Fellows will be required to prepare and present reports describing their activities.

  • Description: North American full-time medical students, and residents and fellows in any medical specialty who express an interest in tropical medicine or international health may apply. KAMA (the Korean-American Medical Association):

  • Description: Has provided annual scholarships to qualified medical students since its inception as part of our commitment to education and mentorship. The KAMA scholarship is intended to promote, assist and support eligible medical students of Korean heritage and their pursuit of medical and scientific research studies and community outreach efforts.

Luce Scholars Program

MAP Fellows Program: International Medical Fellowship program

  • Description: MAP Health Fellowship Program.  MAP will provide travel scholarships in the amount of up to $3000to health students and graduates pursuing global health missions.  The field of studies may include medicine, nursing, allied health, dentistry, pharmacy, and physical and occupational therapies.  The Apply Now button is readily available on the page per the link mentioned above. Mayan Medical Aid Scholarships

Rotary International Scholarships

The American Medical Women’s Association’s American Women’s Hospitals

  • Qualifications: Funding to women medical students and residents who travel to medically underserved areas in the U.S. and abroad to work in approved programs that care for the medically underserved. Grants are awarded to national AMWA members completing their second, third or fourth year at an accredited U.S. medical or osteopathic medical school or a resident who will be spending a minimum of six weeks and no longer than one year in a sponsored program which will serve the needs of the medically underserved.

The Paul Alexander Memorial Fund of Management Sciences for Health

  • Sponsor: MSH established the Fellowship to honor colleague Paul Alexander, M.D., whose unexpected death occurred within days of completing a long-term rural health project. The Fellowship is intended to encourage and inspire dedication of individuals in the field of international health.
  • Qualifications: The Paul Alexander Memorial Fellowship provides an international public health opportunity in a developing country to a person of promise who seeks direct experience to help them make a career choice. The fellowship is usually used to support work with a Management Sciences for Health (MSH) international public health project for a minimum of two months, although awards are sometimes granted to individually developed plans. Applicants must have received, or intend to receive, a graduate degree within two years of award travel.
  • Description: Interested applicants should submit a letter of interest indicating their period of availability accompanied by a curriculum vitae and four letters of reference (two academic and two professional). Applicants should indicate international experience and language skills, where applicable. The Charles S. Houston Award of the Wilderness Medical Society

  • Description: Provides financial support to a medical student selected on a competitive basis for a research project in the field of wilderness medicine.

Westra Scholarship

  • Qualifications: Available to members of CMDA, the Christian Medical Dental Association, who are third- or fourth-year medical students in approved US medical schools and can demonstrate financial need.

A student may cancel this transaction, without any penalty or obligation, within three (3) business days (excluding weekends and holidays) from the date specified on the enrollment agreement or course registration receipt. A student’s notification of cancellation must be conveyed to the institution via the Withdrawal Request Online Form.

Refunds resulting from a cancellation will be issued within 30 days of notice of cancellation. A student requesting cancellation more than 3 business days after signing an enrollment agreement is subject to the applicable refund formula stated in the following section.

    • If Refund Request is approved, refund will be issued within 30 days
    • If Refund Request is denied, student will be notified by the University.
    • If Deferral Option is selected, learner will qualify to re-schedule for a future participation date
  1. Set a meeting with designated advisor (MIH) or the Service-Learning Manager (diploma) to discuss withdrawal.
  2. Submit Withdrawal Request Online Form.
  3. Select the Program Accepted Into.
  4. Select Deferral, Complete Withdrawal, or Switch Program Option
    • If Deferral is chosen, specify the length of deferred time. Please note that the MIH must be completed within 4 years of acceptance date.
    • If Complete Withdrawal is chosen, student will be removed from the program. Student must reapply and repay tuition to their program if they want to continue at a later time.
    • If Switch Program is chosen, learner will be moved to the new program and the Institute will notify the learner of change. Student must reapply and repay tuition to the original program if they want to continue at a later time.
  5. Student receives acknowledgement of withdrawal from INMED.

Students dismissed from courses and programs due to misconduct (ie: harassment) are not entitled to a deferral or refund of course tuition paid.

4-Week Courses – refers to the Service-Learning portion of the Master’s Degree in International Health, Graduate Diploma Program in International Medicine and Public Health, Graduate Diploma Program in International Nursing and Public Health, and Graduate Diploma Program in International Public Health

8-Week Courses – refers to the Graduate Certificate in International Medicine & Public Health, Graduate Certificate in International Nursing & Public Health, Graduate Certificate in International Public Health, and all 8-week general academic credit courses

Continuing Education Courses – refers to the Professional Qualification Course in Ultrasound for Primary Care, Professional Qualification Course in Obstetrics Ultrasound, Professional Qualification Course in Helping Babies Breathe, Professional Qualification Course in Essential Care for Every Baby and Small Babies, Professional Qualification Course in Helping Mothers Survive, Professional Qualification Course in Hands-On Skills for Low-Resource Healthcare, and all Short Self-Paced Courses

Deferrals – student’s registration is transferred to a future date and are still be enrolled in a program

Refunds – student is refunded (or partially refunded) money paid for a course, but may still be enrolled in program

Programs – refers to the Master’s Degree in International Health, Graduate Diploma Program in International Medicine and Public Health, Graduate Diploma Program in International Nursing and Public Health, and Graduate Diploma Program in International Public Health

Withdrawal from a course – student is withdrawn from a currently enrolled course but remains enrolled in a program

Withdrawal from the university/program – student is withdrawn from all programs and courses

Cancellation, Deferral, & Refund Policy​

No refunds outside the stated policy are guaranteed. Students may request refunds due to mitigating circumstances. INMED will review these situations on a case-by-case basis.
