International Service Learning Via Equivalency (Service-Learning Completed)
INMED endeavors to recognize excellent international medicine, nursing, and public health service-learning experiences provided by other institutions towards qualification for and INMED Professional Diploma or Master’s Degree in International Health (MIH).
Requirements
In application for equivalency, one must provide documentation that the experience was:
- Providing healthcare to a low-resource community
- Continuously supervised by a mentor whose qualifications would be acceptable to an appropriate North American healthcare education institution
- At least four weeks in continuous duration within the past 5 years (at least 2 weeks is acceptable for practicing professionals and final-year resident physicians)

Application Fee
$100 – Application Fee for Professional Diploma in International Medicine & Public Health or
$100 – Application fee for Professional Diploma in International Nursing & Public Health or
$100 – Application Fee for Professional Diploma in International Public Health
(Note: no service-learning application fee for MIH participants)
Professional Certificate Course Tuition
$1360 for the Professional Certificate Course in International Medicine & Public Health or
$1360 for the Professional Certificate Course in International Nursing & Public Health or
$1360 for the Professional Certificate Course in International Public Health
(Note: Tuition for Master’s degree credit is $2720)
Service-Learning Approval Fee
$600 for International Medicine & Public Health Service-Learning approval or
$600 for International Nursing & Public Health Service-Learning approval or
$600 for International Public Health Service-Learning approval or
(Note: Tuition for Master’s degree credit is $1360)
Process
1) Complete the Professional Certificate Course corresponding to the diploma for which you are applying:
- Professional Certificate Course in International Medicine & Public Health or
- Professional Certificate Course in International Nursing & Public Health or
- Professional Certificate Course in International Public Health
2) Submit the Diploma Program Service-Learning Application or Master’s Degree Service-Learning Application online.
3) Submit service-learning documentation for approval:
- Training site location & description (or reference to a website that describes the facility)
- Proof of service-learning dates (experience must be within the last 5 years)
- Proof of supervision (submit a Supervisor Evaluation with contact information of supervisor)
4) Once equivalency experience is approved:
- Submit Service-Learning Approval Fee/tuition
- INMED Essay (questions will be provided)
5) Once these documents are evaluated to satisfaction, you will receive the diploma in the mail and will be eligible to use the credentials corresponding to your diploma:
- DIMPH (Professional Diploma in International Medicine & Public Health) or
- DINPH (Professional Diploma in International Nursing & Public Health) or
- DIPH (Professional Diploma in International Public Health) or
- For MIH learners, once approved, the Service Learning Experience will count toward your progress in the MIH
