Chronic noncommunicable diseases are major public health challenges in most countries. In addition to effective treatment, much is already known  about these disease, including the fact that primary prevention is the best strategy to control these modern epidemics. Targeting high-risk individuals with secondary and tertiary prevention can also reduce the burden of chronic disease.
