Course Content
The Course addresses the following bodies of knowledge:
- Diseases of Poverty – Those health conditions most frequently associated with low economic status
- Low-Resource HIV Medicine – Prevention and treatment of HIV in limited asset settings
- Maternal-Newborn Health – Advocacy for these particularly vulnerable persons
- International Public Health – Factors that most significantly impact health in low-resource communities
- Cross-Cultural Skills – Skills to effectively promote health in a new cultural context
- Disaster Management – Action in advance to mitigate loss and effectively respond
- International Health Leadership – Design and leadership of effective, sustainable healthcare systems
- Health Professions Education – effective empowerment and transfer healthcare skills to other personnel
Educational Components/Methods
Learners will achieve the course competency objectives through the following educational components:
- Interactive online presentations by expert professionals
- Case studies providing analysis
- Projects for exploring personal application
- Skill stations to develop technical facility
Learners will need to devote five to ten hours per week during the online segment of the course.
SUCCESSFUL COURSE COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS
Requirements for successful course completion are:
- Participation in all Course activities, including online learning, submission of all assignments, and in-classroom section activities.
- Achievement of 80% or greater on all Post-Tests
- Achievement of 80% or greater on all Final Examinations
- Successful demonstration of all required skills
- Completion of the course evaluation and credit claims form.
