INMED International Pharmacy Training Sites
INMED cooperates with numerous international health facilities to provide INMED students with exceptional educational experiences. Site selection is done with attention to safety, accessibility, instructor credentials, ease of communications, and the evaluations of former students. The following INMED Training Sites are most commonly utilized. Additional sites are constantly being assessed. NOTE: Not all sites are available or ideally suited to all students. INMED will assist applicants in selecting an optimum location.

| ANGOLA - LUBANGO EVANGELICAL MEDICAL CENTER |
Angola, southern Africa, is a geographically beautiful country, yet scene to some of the greatest human needs on earth. The Lubango Evangelical Medical Center is one of the latest efforts to improve the lives of Angolans. Current services include a busy out patient clinic, ophthalmology care, and general surgery. The new 80-bed hospital features state of the art facilities for the developing world.
Students work under the direction of Steve Foster, a board-certified Canadian surgeon with thirty years experience in Angola. They participate in the full range of medical services at the Evangelical Medical Center, with additional work at the 200 bed Kalukembe Hospital. For full effectiveness in Angola, fluency in Portuguese or Spanish is essential.

| GHANA - BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER |
The rural community of Nalerigu, northern Ghana, West Africa, is home to the Baptist Medical Center. 400-500 outpatients are seen in each clinic, and the hospital of 120 beds usually runs at over capacity. People coming to Baptist Medical Center are often impoverished. Some of the most common medical problems encountered are malaria, malnutrition, pneumonia, tropical ulcers, hypertension and anemia.
The medical staff of Baptist Medical Center consists of two to three full time American physicians. In addition, a number of other American physicians visit for short periods each year. English is the spoken language of Ghana. The Center also supports a public health ministry that sponsors rural clinics where villagers receive immunizations, health teaching, prenatal clinics and under five clinics.

A dedicated team of Kenyan nationals leads the comprehensive pharmaceutical care provided by Kijabe Hospital. They oversee all pharmacy logistics, including medication acquisition, inventory, distribution, and even process their own intravenous fluids. Kijabe Hospital pharmacists are heavily invested in supporting HIV care and medical care at satellite clinics. They enjoy an exemplary collaborative relationship with hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and community health workers.
Education is a highlight of the Kijabe Hospital Pharmacy, which serves as a regular clinical rotation site for pharmacy students from the University of Nairobe School of Pharmacy. As such, students follow a thoughtfully prepared curriculum while participating in all aspect of pharmaceutical care, including roles in education of both Kijabe Hospital patients and staff.

| SOUTH AFRICA - MCCORD HOSPITAL |
McCord Hospital is a 166-bed, Christian hospital, providing comprehensive, affordable, and quality health care to the less privileged people of Durban. McCord Hospital has four service priorities: patient care, research, education and training, and holistic HIV care. The latter is the greatest single medical need in South Africa today, and in line with this challenge McCord Hospital has developed comprehensive HIV care programs.
McCord Hospital fosters an active learning environment that encourages those students to further develop their skills, and leadership potential. In addition to training for medical interns and family physicians, McCord Hospital participates in international collaborations for medical education, especially through Harvard University. The hospital also provides learning opportunities for both medical students and resident physicians from abroad.

| SOUTH AFRICA - MSELENI HOSPITAL |
South African trained pharmacists play an essential role in the comprehensive clinical services provided by Mseleni Hospital, supporting inpatient care, outpatient services, and numerous rural clinics. HIV, tuberculosis and medication compliance are significant challenges in this community, and Mseleni Hospital pharmacists are frequently consulted and relied upon in this regard. Pharmaceutical standards of care for Mseleni Hospital are comparable with their European counterparts.
Pharmacy students participate in the full range of pharmaceutical services, including frequent consultation with professional colleagues in the fields of medicine and nursing. Students are invited to also participate in the very active clinical care provided at the hospital, as well as in the context of rural clinics, public health initiatives, and orphan care.

| TANZANIA - DISPENSARY MAGAMBUA |
The Dispensary provides both preventative health care and acute medical care. Most of the care is outpatient, though beds are available for up to six inpatients when necessary. Basic dental care and obstetrics are provided, with one-to-two deliveries each week. Dispensary services include mobile maternal-child health clinics, providing public health education, bed net distribution, childhood vaccinations, prenatal check ups, HIV counseling and testing.
Students work under direct supervision of the physician and nurse on site. They actively participate in outpatient, inpatient, wound care, obstetrical cases, laboratory experience, and Community Health Worker training and support. Reference is made to the particular student's skills and experience when assigning responsibilities. Students would also enjoy the opportunity to participate in the maternal-child health mobile clinics.

| HONDURAS - CLINICA ESPERANZA |
The clinic is located on Roatan, one of the Bay Islands, just north of the Honduras mainland. Despite its remarkable beaches and beautiful weather, many residents live in sustained poverty and suffer from common chronic diseases, as well as from malaria, dengue, intestinal parasites, malnutrition and sexually transmitted illnesses. Roatan's preexisting medical care system consists only of overburdened government facilities that lack the most basic resources.
Clinica Esperanza's vision is to provide the finest medical care possible to all Roatan residents, regardless of income status. The clinic was launched in 2001 and now performs over 1,000 consultations a month. The clinic is also progressively adding additional services, including laboratory, ultrasound and minor procedures. Medical education is a high priority at Clinica Esperanza, with supervision provided by both American and Honduran physicians and nurses.

| INDIA - VELLORE CHRISTIAN MEDICAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL |
This is one of India's most prominent medical centers, known for both innovative patient care and research, and for progressive community health initiatives. Many patients have very humble resources, and the Hospital welcomes the opportunity to serve them. Students have a choice of studying a wide variety of medical specialties and can function well using English alone. Accommodations are provided in a new housing complex.
The medical center was founded in 1900 by Ida Scudder and is a model success story in the history of medical missions. The city of Vellore is located in southern India, a region known for trade and agricultural. Visitors can enjoy amazing shopping, hiking, and trips to the coast.

EHA is a network of 21 hospitals and 27 community health projects in northern and central India committed to caring for poor communities irrespective of caste, creed or race. A high proportion of India's population continues to suffer and die from preventable infections, tuberculosis, malaria, cholera & diarrhea, malnutrition, and pregnancy and childbirth related complications. EHA hospitals provide the full range of clinical services, including obstetrics & gynecology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, general surgery, urology, and general & family medicine.
EHA is excited to offer cross-cultural elective experience in medicine, nursing, dentistry, physiotherapy, pharmacy, hospital administration, and public health for students who are interested in expanding their horizons and being challenged by an experience in India. EHA currently hosts about 100 health profession students per year.
