| 2008 CONFERENCE THEME: LAUNCHING INTO MEDICAL MISSIONS |
Most health professionals contemplate international service and are inspired by the prospects. Yet few are confident about where to begin. The 2008 Exploring Medical Missions Conference equipped health professionals with the necessary professional, cross-cultural and personal skills. It will also provided guidelines for career decisions, including how to select a sending organization and a community in which to serve. Participants enjoyed ample chance to network with medical mission organizations about specific opportunities.
At the completion of this conference participants will:
- Be more prepared for international service with appropriate professional, cross-cultural and personal skills
- Be able to wisely choose a sending organization and select a community to serve
- Be able to diagnosis and management of common diseases of poverty
- Be prepared for cross-cultural adaptation and communication
- Be able to lead health interventions that are most appropriate for resource-poor nations

| ANONYMOUS CONFERENCE FEEDBACK |
"Overall-absolutely exceptional conference. I was skeptical about how useful or beneficial it would be - But I was completely blown away by how valuable and challenging it was to network and talk to people who are on the field now. My husband and I intend to be on the field full-time in 2-3 years and the conversations we had here have been instrumental. Thank you so much for putting this conference together!!!"
"This conference has improved every year - I've been to all three."
"What a thing to see so many interested in serving others! Everyone at the conference seemed to share this focused goal. That, in itself was uplifting. Speakers were experienced and committed. More exhibitors than I see at most CME events. Thanks to INMED and UMKC School of Medicine for this conference opportunity. I'll do my part to encourage others to attend and, of course, to go on a mission."
"Greatest good of this conference was not topics, but people I met."
"Student volunteers were very nice."
"Excellent Conference!"
